I bought a ton of accessories as I ordered my car, but I bought my intercom, radio and GPS outside of Speed as they didn’t offer the model I wanted. I went with PCI Trax as I use it in other vehicles and really like their stuff, and they have always had awesome support at the races. I also bought wheels and tires prior to speed offering 35’s as an option. I was wondering if others had planned a lot of stuff outside of the accessories offered by speed?

I'm going with PCI after getting the vehicle as well. I originally had a lot of accessories. After waiting over a year after the original planned delivery date, I removed most all to bring down my financed amount. Then they raised all the prices and I regret not just leaving them on. I'm definitely doing nets, jack, spare tire mount, fire extinguisher mounts, mirrors and Tensor 35" tires as aftermarket purchases.

@Travis B What tire did you go with? I was looking at the 35" BFG KM3 tires but I might change my mind and go with the Speed 35" tires.

I have a few things outside of Speed. My radio & intercom, for one. It was not because they didn’t offer what I have. It’s because I did not like how they have it mounted and how the cables & antenna are run. I’m very particular and prefer to do myself. I will also run a BD 20 inch light bar on the front bumper. I will put my own Buggy whip on. I plan on putting in sun visors like I have in my Prerunner. I’ll move my gps from my current UTV. I will probably have to modify the window nets to allow for side mirrors. Should not be to difficult. I have a local upholstery shop that can do what I need.

I might wrap the roof to match the colors I chose for the car. We will see??

I’ll use up the stock tires before thinking about another brand or 35’s.

And I have a few other ideas, but let’s see when I get the car and how the other cars are doing.

I went with the tensor 35 for this car. I am a big fan of BFG, I ran them on the race truck and was very satisfied with them. I have 2 speed cars coming, I am strongly considering the BFG’s on that car.

I bought the PCI Trax system directly from PCI - as someone else posted, I‘m not a huge fan of where Speed mounts the PTT buttons so I will install the communication system after I receive the car. I know Speed strongly cautions against doing so, but I don’t think it should be that difficult. I will also be taking my car up to Code4LED which is located here in UT to have them outfit it with a light bar, lighted side mirrors, rock lights and any other lights I think are “needed”. I will also most likely use their 8 button switch panel. I have some of their lights on my Jeep and love them - their support is awesome as well. I also have some RokIt whips that I bought over a year ago thinking my El Jefe would be here sooner. Lastly, I have 32” Skat Trak paddles but have not bought the wheels yet. I guess I’m not sold on which wheels are the best option for these cars. I don’t want to add a lot of width to the stance and I’m not sure about the “hub centric” factor. I certainly don’t want to hijack this post, but I’m open to suggestions on wheels - no beadlocks. Thanks!

I got the RG Jefe but really wanted the PCI Trax radios. Speed for some reason doesn’t offer it. After talking with the guys at PCI some time back they said they would upgrade our Elite units to their Trax units for a small fee. (I was told $200 back then) Looked them up recently and sure enough they are offering the upgrade on their website.

What are your guys plans as far as a dome light? I was bummed when they took that away and made all the lights rock lights. Any suggestions or your favorites?
I plan on getting one from CODE4LED (along with my light bar, lighted side mirrors, rock lights, etc...) and incorporating it into an 8 button switch panel.

I plan on using the Baja Designs dome light with built in push button switch. This simplifies wiring and the need to mount a switch on the dash. It also allows the rear seat passengers to turn on the rear dome light when they are buckling in.

I’ve seen a few similar lights with built in switches on Amazon etc..

I was thinking I would get or make a half windshield, and a portable air compressor. I can drive to glamis from my house but have to drive hard packed dessert to get there and I feel it would be nice to air down the tires and air them up . And a tire plug kit for flats . I really want to keep my accessories to a minimum for weight and that’s a financial black hole I will try to stay out of as long as possible but I know I will eventually succumb to .

Personally I would get a compressor and mount it under the hood. From what I have seen particularly rock crawling or climbing anything, utv’s could use more weight in the front and you’re only talking a couple pounds. Remember there is no radiator up there, not sure wat the actual weight of the insanely awesome front diff assembly is but I’m betting the front is light. I’m going to put a compressor and a winch in my El Diablo #150

That’s a good idea on the weight up front .
I had a winch on my jeep and I used a tow strap more then the actual winch. But I went with others and they had winches and tow straps as well.

I would seriously consider the "newish" Milwaukee 18v Inflator instead of a built-in onboard compressor. It is by far the best small inflator I have ever used, by a wide margin! I can not imagine what it could not do that an OBA system could do. I don't think OBA systems that are used on UTVs or even Jeeps or trucks have enough oomph to set a bead. I also got the trail kit with the AGM jack, and will carry a Milwaukee impact, so I will have the battery(s) with me already.

I wish they had introduced the M18 inflator before I spent an incredible amount of Doh to put an OBA on my truck. It is that good, and I've tried a lot of small compressors. I am also replacing the 6 gallon pancake compressor in the toyhauler with another M18 inflator.

Wow never heard of that. Sounds like it’s exactly what I needed. I’ll check it out. Thanks.

i keep this one in my truck and have had great luck with it i just had a feuse blow when i was using it in the rain with the lid open but other then that its been great.

I'm glad Nick from Chupacabra is getting one of the first cars for product development. I'm sure by the time I get mine he will have some products specifically for the Speed car. I'm planning on getting his side mirrors with lights, center mirror, headset hanger, they are working on visors that I want, and probably storage bags they come up with.
Beyond that I already have the wiring from rugged to move the PTT to the steering wheel and grab handle and the headset jacks to the shoulder harness. I want to move the comms and intercom to the lower section of the dash. Then I will put a Switch Pro in the top section. Above that I want a GPS setup. I will probably use an iPad setup. I already have some 5150 whips and then get whatever Baja Designs lights fit. Probably a set of LP6s on the bumper in front of the grill. A set of Squadron Pros on the Chupacabra mirrors. Maybe the LX Linkable light bar. Then a RTL-S chase bar light with turn signals.
I will also get 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers as soon as I can yet my hands on them!

I'll be ordering nearly everything outside of Speed. I'm too picky about how my electronics are mounted. 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Thank you, and I think this would be a good video, what I am planning on adding (and building).

I'm paying attention to the Pro R guys thoughts on paddle tires, as I think the Jefe will be a similar setup. I will try the Tensor 33's, but also thinking of trying the Rogue 34's, Packard 33" comp cuts or STU's. I'll go with Method wheels for the sand setups.

I have some ideas on my Baja Designs lights I want to run, with the rear cutout of the stock roof, it might be clean to make a bracket for so S2 chase lights, versus trying to hang a RTL rear light bar. I'm also a big fan of the switch pros.

I haven't figured out which GPS setup I want to use, I'm curious if the screen mirroring of LeadNav or OnX app on the dash would be good enough for most day to day riding, and then get something else for Baja rides etc.

I bought an extra set of Speed wheels to test Tensor 35's, and then my sticky Roxxzilla's in Sand Hollow. I might try the Speed 35's, Toyo's, etc.

I will get the suspension tuned after I put some miles on it, if need be.

I'm curious if the Speed tool kit fits in the crescent box, and I'll probably make a bracket so it stays secure. I also want to test a few different coolers, something low profile like a AO looks like it would work best, but I've had a few of them start to leak after a while.

I ordered the small CO2 jack with my "trail kit", I love how its small and light, but the AGM's are very cool. I just don't like the look of crap hanging off my car, I have a prototype axle mount I need to dial in, it would be clean if the axle mount also has a bracket for the extra tie rod that is part of the trail kit, that I'm sure many of you ordered.

Open to all suggestions, and I'll share more ideas that I've been planning here soon. I'd like to protect the lower A arms and trailing arms.
