Has anyone heard any more information about an gas tank under the seat. I would really like to have a second gas tank setup with fuel pump and a switch so I can run gas in one tank and E85 in the other tank.

I have not heard anymore about it. Over a year ago Robby said they will still make one, but that it could not be offered or sold with a Speed UTV as an option due to emissions. It would be sold as an aftermarket item. I told him I will be first in line to get one.

Then at the Sand Show last Sept I was speaking with Todd R and I mentioned the Aux tank. I was telling him how I want it for Baja. Todd’s comment is they have made enough accessories at this point and it might be awhile.

If they don’t make one or take too long, maybe AGM will like they did for the X3. Or better yet maybe if enough interest is shown TrailTank will make one. His would be a true rotomold tank like a stock tank is made. This would allow to get her the most gallons due to fitting the contours & whole area.

Robby has mentioned making a larger race tank that could probably be modified for your purpose. Nice thing about this rig is that it has the sensor that allows it to determine e which fuel and will alter the tune to what the fuel will allow. I know that doesn't do what you asking, but it's better than having to drain the tank...

I am aware of the sensor, that's the reason I thought having a two tank set up would be a easy modification for e85.

According to RG, Speed will make a second tank for the El Jefe to go under the left rear seat.
That would be perfect for your idea, just would need a second pump, some check valves and custom plumbing.

Just to clarify the Aux tank talked about would be a transfer tank. The system would pump fuel from the Aux to the primary. So the idea of carrying two fuels and switching from tank to tank is not the concept or plan to build. The Aux would most likely have a small faucet style low pressure pump that when turned on via a switch on the dash would fill the primary tank. There would be no fuel gauge on the Aux tank and the fuel line would probably tap into a hole drilled in the neck of the primary tank.

I under stand its a transfer tank I would be adding my own pump and doing the necessary modifications

Problem is going to be is the factory pump is internal & mounted on the stock tank. That pump comes on and is run by the ECU.

How would you turn that pump off and not have the computer freak out, and how are you going to activate another pump, return and vent lines and let the computer know what’s going on?

Having two independent tanks on separate operating systems is probably going to be very difficult, if not impossible.

It would be allot cheaper to just buy a gas can and an electric pump or drill pump and siphon pump out the gas or E85 from the stock tank and poor in what you want to run. It’s not like you’re going up flipping a switch back & forth during a ride. Plus E85 is not a fuel you want just sitting around. It absorbs moisture from the air and has a much shorter storage life.

You made some valid points, I was thinking the fuel system would be more like my sand car. This being my first Sxs it sounds like a hole different game. Thanks for your input.

Operating the primary pump is a signal from the ECU to the pump relay. Feedback is pressure to the injectors; ECU is satisfied to run engine.
To run of the Aux Tank, with the help of a transfer switch send ECU signal to Aux Pump Relay; ECU receives feedback from pressure switch and ECU will run engine.
This is assuming that the pressure switch is outside of the primary tank (like on the fuel rail) and all is needed are check valves.

That doesn't sound to bad assuming the pressure switch isn't in the primary tank.

If it is, the problem can be solved in the ladder logic of the ECU by removing the requirement for the feedback signal for initiating engine start.
Or a simple circuit can be created to have a signal from a secondary pressure switch going back to the ECU... just would need a number of electronic check valves installed (diodes)

I will reach out to trail tank and see if they are interested in making them. They are 5 minutes from me. I would definitely lend my car for a discounted tank.
