Driver error to get stuck in 2wd IMO.
The moment I feel it's possible, it's left off the throttle and shift into 4wd before you are SOL.

I've done this for years with my Ranger Prerunner and now our 1982 Yota Crawler. Waiting until you are buried/stopped in 2wd is just plain stupid.
Doesn't change the fact that, with Speed, you can't '4wd shift on the fly', nor can you be informed that you are in fact in 4wd.

As far as I'm aware, there is no positive indicator that you are in fact in 4wd, either.

You can shift 4wd on the fly.

And it’s manual shift. Of course there is no electronic indicator. Have you never owned a real 4x4? Before those finicky electronic shift tcases, there were real levers and linkages. Neither my 1982 Toyota crawler or my 2009 ranger had a 4x4 light. No need. The shift lever says it all. 2H, 4H, 4L

I was thinking the exact same thing. Good thing this isn't a 5 spd. Manual with the shift gate pattern missing from the shift knob.
There are for sure situations where people aren't sure they're in 4wd, even for you old farts. Even nick/ chupacabra was in the situation. Get over yourselves.

Not to bash, but Nick isn’t the most experienced off-roader. Not sure he ever owned manual shift tcase truck before. They are rare nowadays.

And who you calling old? Lol. I might be the youngest here on the forum.

Youngins this days need to be told everything...
just saying
I'm not a youngin. I'm pushing 50. My current commuter vehicle is a 5 speed. I got my license on a 1986 f250 diesel with a 5 speed manual and a splitter trans. No hydraulic assist on the clutch, btw. But I would appreciate knowing I am in fact in 4wd. And I'm not alone.

Then look at the shift lever just like any other serious 4x4. It’s not a ratcheting shifter like the trans shifter.

I don’t know about y’all but I’m getting pretty pumped for the SSSS. Just saw @Chupacabra Offroad got a new wrap on his ride and he along with others will be getting their Speed keys, according to one of RG’s latest live instagram. Time to flip the switch and unleash those 300+ ponies and let the car eat. Can’t wait for the reviews!!
