So it appears the key is a remote type key that doesn't actually get inserted into the dash. (Is this correct)???
This is cool but what happens if we lose it on the trail at some point and we don't even know we lost it?
We will be screwed after taking a short brake.

I’m thinking get one of these nifty little bags if you don’t get the second dash on the glove compartment, put your key in there it will be close enough to the car so it will operate over whatever RF frequency or Bluetooth then if you decide to park the car and leave it somewhere reach in there and you take it out and take it with you.

I’m going to put it in my pocket… like I would my truck keys.

Well.... the key is not to lose it. 🤪

Sorry, could help myself. 😂😂😂😂

It is the same as you find on almost any late model car or bike, bring the key fob close enough and it can be started up.
I keep mine in my pocked; for my bike I hook it up to my belt and stick it in my pocked, not likely to loose it.

In all seriousness, if you are that concerned about it, here are a couple suggestions:

1) buy a high visibility FOB cover or attach something high visibility to it. i.e. construction orange or yellow

2) when you get your car, have your key fob on you, whether in your hand or in your pocket. Start the car, then get out and walk away from it to see how far you get until it turns off. Remember Nick's video when they couldn't start the car cause the fob wasn't in or near it?

3) or if you have an iPhone, simply attach a key tag to it. Or a Tile air tag. 😉👍

If the Speed fob works the same as it does for my bike or car, you only need it to start, you do not need to stay close for it to continue running.
Something that should be addressed by the manufactures of my vehicles.

Ahhh, you are correct. My Jeep is the same way. However, if I walk away with the fob in my pocket and the Jeep is still running, it does not allow you to put it into gear.

Curious how they set it up on our cars.

My honda and toyota beeps and a dash light flashes but you can still drive it normal with out key fob once started.

My concern with the fob is let’s say we are in the RV sleeping with the fob on the key hook, and someone comes up and tries to steel the car. What’s the fob range? Can one of the hackers fob scanners work?

A guy at my work had a car broke into in his driveway as they could get a fob signal on their scan hack tool and use this to open his doors and try to steel his car. Luckily they were just steeling things in the car and not the car.

He told me and everyone at work about using a Faraday box, which is a box that blocks all RFID signals. These are cheap, like $20 and under. I’ll probably get one for the RV so my car can’t be potentially started and driven off.

Yes that is a concern of mine as well. Good thing I am a light sleeper and always have my 2A.
Same thing happened to my neighbor's car the video captured it all and the ring is what woke him up to catch the guy in the act.
I have heard good things about the RFID sleeves for key fobs

By dad has a rfid blocking pouch mounted on the wall by his other keys. He keeps the truck keys in it and it seems to work really well

Did i see a lock and unlock on the key fob? Maybe you cant start it unless you actually unlock the car? I could be wrong lol but I swear someone mentioned something like that once.

Doesn’t 90% of new cars today use the same key technology? If the Speed key is concerning, so then is 90% of all new cars made today.
