Been duning Glamis for over 15 years with Quads, Wildcat Turbo, SCU sand rail turbo Subi running STU's. I ran Skats as Im a big believer in lightest paddle/tire combo for sand on quads and my long gone Wildcat. My group runs all kinds of tires on X3's and RZR's from STU to SS360. We dont shoot the hill or drags so fastest is not our thing. Knobbies can get you everywhere aired down and HP. But all around G we have med to fast rides pretty much all the time and all cars and different paddles can keep up with leader.

Now El Jefe is living up to its name in terms of weight, so light set up is going to be needed. That said what do you guys think ideal tire/cut/paddle will be for both 225 and 300 hp. Most of us duners will want and need speed key or tunes to get the max HP. I really do like the overall dune tire with the SS360 as all reviews and guys in my group who run them like them. They have a new HP version for cars over 200 HP but no reviews yet on them. I like the idea of the ss360 because the are light, and running 4wd will hopefully keep belt temps down. But without any real world experience yet, lets get the talks going just to have some stuff to talk vs all the wondering when we will get our cars.

I personally run Skat Traks on every thing.
I will most likely try to find something in the 33" range with 12 to 14 paddles.

I run the ss360s on our canam. I will be trying the speed paddle setup for the speed car. I wish they would design a light weight dune wheel to go with the dune tires as the stock beadlocks are heavy

I have ran ran Skat and STU for many years, both have their strengths. I am leaning towards a Skat styled paddle tire in a 33" 14 paddle.

I like a light tire on a light car. Since these are not light cars I would not want a super light tire with a flimsy sidewall. Skat/warlock carcass would be too flimsy, imo.
When I went to SSSS and saw the cars and they said everyone would have their cars by the end of the year I foolishly believed them, so I bought my tires already and I went with Sandcraft Demon 10 paddle, which are rated for 225-250rwhp. And of course front buff and I plan to run 2wd almost exclusively in the sand. I prefer a loose setup, which in the sand usually requires stiffer swaybars, so I hope there is an option for them once my car is delivered.

Is SSSS the best place to buy paddles/wheels as far as price goes?

Skat all the way. 4ply sidewall,Sandcraft is popular, but that 2ply is just a little thin for the Oregon dunes in my opinion.
Good information. I did not know that SC was only 2 ply.

My sandcraft seem beefier than my current skats, which are bead-to-bead buffed, but are not warlock buffs. I do know skat makes tires with un-buffed sidewalls for some online dealerships.

I ran warlock buffs and super light CMS custom wheels on the Can Am. Total weight was 106 lbs and ran them in the Oregon dunes for 4 seasons. Obviously I consider myself lucky not to hit anything and I typically overdrove the chassis with the wife screaming often. It was the secret sauce for my set up for more than just winning drag races. It definitely saved on exploding belts and that was what I was looking for. Now my XX setup is Sandcraft and is much heavier along with my bling beadlock wheels that I didn't need. Definitely stronger but 60 lbs heavier total ( tires and wheels) and haven't tested them yet. I just wanted to try something different but it goes against what I believe in. Light is right!IMG_20230713_222518527.jpg

Here's something you probably won't find on a freshly mounted molded tire. Just got those tires mounted up and the damn thing is leaking. Good thing I didn't brag them up that much. I will chalk it up to karma for my not so nice heavy molded tire comment on this site earlier. 😆IMG_20230713_202400784.jpg

Lot's of buffed tires will leak, if there's a slight bubble in the rubber mold itself this happens.
Just put some Slime inside that tire. (4 ounce)
Or return it.

Called Sandcraft and they're working with me. I didn't want Talons for the back of that thing anyway and they said give them two weeks and they'll get sliders made up like I wanted in the first place. Another guy there said I couldn't get sliders until after sand sports. So talking to someone different worked out. Now if I was leaving for a trip soon I would do whatever it takes to make it go but I'm in no hurry. Leaks about a lb. an hour and yes you can hear it. We'll see if this turns out in my favor.
