I am planning on being at the Havasu shop this Friday evening and or Saturday, if Robby has the time and will sit down with me I will ask him to answer as many questions as he has time for or is willing to.

Post your questions below, I know a few of them like the springs and of course a delivery schedule but I know you have others so post them Below.

Robby is aware of the forum and has been mostly friendly so I will do my best to get some time with him. If it looks like it will take away from what they have planned for customers picking up their UTVs it will have to wait, I don’t want to screw with their experience.

No promises but I know if he has the time he will give it to us.

1) Is Robby still committed to building the Aux fuel tank to go under the left rear seat in the El Jefe? If so do they have an idea when they will build & make it available to purchase?

2) Can we get info on a CVT clutch belt tool? Does the Speed/TAP clutch need a special Speed only tool, or is there a tool already available that we can use to change a belt?

3) Will a clutch tune be required if running the Speed 35 tire?

4) Can we get a closer look at the Production Windshield & rear storage boxes? How does the box lid latch & mount in the bed?

5) How messy is changing the engine oil filter with the filter cover not having a drain plug as planned?

6) Will an insert cover be put in place of the recess in the glove box door if you did not purchase the second dash screen?

7) Why the production build change on building the Bandit vs the El Diablo, and when can we expect to see a pre production Diablo and then have production start?

8) How many El Jefes are expected to be build before the switch to Bandits and then El Diablos?

9) When does Speed expect to have dealers involved and able to support the direct to consumer cars that were ordered?

10) If we feel the need to tune or service the shocks will parts & seals be available direct to customers or shock service shops?

1) How do they determine the spring rate and how to set ride height with cars having so many different configurations? Some cars are ordered with zero accessories and some have added dozens. And wouldn't it be different for everyone depending if you ride solo vs. four people in the car? Do they add some arbitrary average amount of weight for accessories and passengers and thats how they determined the spring rates and then set the ride height with that arbitrary poundage added?

2a) If we ordered the thicker skid plates so that we could get them pre-installed do we get to keep the set of original thinner ones? If not, it might be more prudent to order the thicker ones post delivery and install them myself and have an extra lighter set for backup.

2b) Along the same lines, if we ordered the air cushions do we get the standard cushion insert as well? I sit on a similar air cushion daily and sometimes they go flat and need repair so having the original cushion would be nice. Again, if not then it would be more beneficial to order them post delivery so I have both.

3) Will the upgraded Eibach shocks be available in orange like our RG shocks?

I can help you with some of your questions.

1) Testing is how you determine spring rates. They will find a middle ground and that’s the rate they will go with. The 4 seater will probably have a slightly heavier spring rate than the two seater will to accommodate for two extra people. By playing with the spring preload and compression & rebound adjustments, with or without 2 more people or will a spare tire you should be able to adjust the shocks to help that. I believe Speed was going to offer a baseline Shock tuning chart for people to use depending on terrain and weight added.

2a) if you order the thicker skids I’m pretty sure your not getting the stock skids, as the thinker would replace the stock ones. If you want both, order the thicker separately and install yourself.

2b) in order add the air cushion they cut down the stock cushion to add the air seat insert. So no thee is no stock cushion to get back. (I asked about this along time ago, so that’s how I know how it works)

3) spring colors. No idea?

1 - What happened to anodized orange and black shocks?

2 - Could race fuel map be added to ecu and be selectable (pump/race/e85) or would you have to flash and loose pump or e85 tune?
The cars already have a race tune built-in if you use the Speed Key. They have a sensor built in to detect the type of fuel you are running.

It's a flex fuel sensor, and only measures specific gravity. It's not really a race tune. It's an e85 tune. 110 octane race gas (which is what he is asking about) would require a whole different fuel/ignition mapping.

As to #3 Robby already said no clutch change needed for 35's.

#7 A Bandit is a El Jefe minus two seats. Makes sense for Speed to knock out the few Bandits that were ordered while building El Jefe's.

Questions for Robby

Will there be a second assembly for El Diablo's or will the existing line have to be switched over?

When will windshield wipers be available?

I spoke to Robby at KOH. The ecu's are locked and to make more power they turned up the boost 2 PSI and we're running race gas on a Speed key tune.

Yeah, I know. But I’d just like to see “proof of certification” rather then just saying it.
That’s a great question to ask? Do they actually have the cert, and or will they have it before the next batch or before the 500 cars are expected to arrive.

So you want me to ask who is manufacturing it for them correct? And if the warranty will extend past the UTVs six-month warranty.
Yeah, since no more info on the actual wench is available. I am sure if there is a manufacture warranty by the brand for 1-2 years that would carry over. Haven’t even seen one fully installed with the bumper and fairlead. I think people may want to see if they should just go after-market if one at all.

Yes, at the price point being paid I would expect a mainstream winch line (superwinch, warn, smittybilt, etc..). Some alibaba winch is unacceptable at the price point listed. A failed winch when alone is a serious issue.
