We ride in all kinds of different weather and I would like to be able to plug the roof vent/scoop when it's raining, etc. When I met up with Todd, he said that they hadn't really had anyone request for a plug solution. I think they offered the same type of hood for the Wildcats. Wonder if any of them came up with a solution? Curious to see what people make or what Speed and/or the aftermarket offer to close the vent off. I would really like to have something that could just be operated to open and close the opening rather than something I have to pack around with me and install when I want it closed...

Not to be a smart@$$, what about the large gaping hole in front and the sides if you don’t have a windshield.:)
I do have the windshield option and we also ride in all four seasons. I would just like the option to be able to control that air flow to suit our needs/wants as well as to eliminate the rain and snow that would come in. Was just wondering if others had thought the same or perhaps there might be a Widlcat owner on here that has dealt with it already.

Piggy backing on Nikal’s comment, if enough people show interest, no doubt there will be a good after market product. The idea of the vent is to create positive pressure to prevent dust from getting sucked in for those using a windshield. I get if its raining or if you live in a high precipitation area, there is not much dust to worry about.

I purchased the lightbar and roof rack, I hope that setup doesn't affect how the positive airflow function of the roof works. I have never raced so I don't know if the idea even works but I'm all in on anything that will help keep the dust down in the cab.

I was thinking the same thing as we might do the rack and light bar in the future. You'll have to let us know once you get your car. 👍

I don't doubt someone will produce something fairly quickly. I have a few ideas, but can't do anything until it's in the garage.

I'm sure a strip of kydex and a simple latch and hinge will work with minimal effort. If you want to get fancy put some adhesive foam weather strip around the edge. I doubt much water will come through that opening anyway without a full enclosed cab you'll probably get more coming through the doors anyway.

I think that’s a good idea ! I’m the same as you I ride in all weather and I ordered the windshield for that reason!

I had the same thought and wondered if you could stuff a chunk of foam in it but I like your idea better to have a door or shutter.

I know it'd be pretty easy to make a flat piece with some ACM (aluminum composit material) then attach some rubber seal around it with a few boots and wing nuts. However, I would like something that could stay in place and just fold down/up so I won't have to store it. Just lazy I guess, lol.

As a minimum, I will be attaching some Frogzskin to it.

That's actually a great idea!! (y) I've worked with that material before building vent screens for my snowmobiles. I was using contact cement & I had a difficult time with getting it to adhere. Is there something that works better?

Some type of a contraption similar to a chimney damper would work well. Open it during nice weather and rotate it closed when needed. No doubt the aftermarket peeps will jump all over it if the demand is there....

Just my two cents, but after speed gets caught up on car delivery to customers, I would be very surprised if they themselves don't offer all kinds of accessory options, and multiple choices. For example the roof... I would expect in short order, there will be an aluminum roof option (race roof), etc. Robby and Todd have stated over and over, they have been thinking and designing for the future, way beyond this first generation production car. They have already talked about the 2nd gen. car, when referring to the engine, and how it has been governed for ultimate reliability, but that it is not anywhere near maximum capability, (design built in for the future). I met Todd at one of the dealerships and talked with him about accessories. He mentioned how much grief they were taking over the release of the car cover, ( people saying, "how come SPEED was designing and releasing accessories, when they haven't released cars yet, etc.) so its no big surprise to me, that they have held back on new option releases.
Also, you can bet your life on the fact that a couple months after this thing is released, the aftermarket industry will be all over it, creating and designing everything you could possibly want or think of, as an option.
In my opinion, no worries.... just be patient and give it six months after delivery, you will have more options and choices for the SPEED, (from the factory and aftermarket), than products that are currently available now, for all other UTV's on the market, combined.

Any sealer/glue that stays flexible will hold it in place.
For a more cleaner, more permanent, installation, I use an instant glue primer and glue.
I use industrial 3M products.
